Enhancing Conversations with MyPersonas: Real-Time File Processing and Knowledge Updates 📁

Upload and process files directly within your MyPersona conversations for instant, contextual responses. This powerful feature enables you to augment your MyPersona's knowledge base temporarily with specific documents while maintaining conversation privacy and security.

Overview

Real-time file processing allows you to:

  • Upload documents during an active conversation
  • Get immediate answers based on both the MyPersona's knowledge base and your uploaded file
  • Keep sensitive information private - files are only accessible within that specific conversation
  • Maintain data security - uploaded files are automatically removed when the conversation ends

How It Works

Step 1: Start a Conversation

Begin by opening a conversation with your MyPersona through any available method:

  • MyPersonas dashboard
  • Website floating action button
  • Direct link

Step 2: Upload Your File

Click the attachment button (📎) in the conversation interface to upload a file from your computer.

Supported file types include:

  • PDF documents
  • Text files
  • Word documents
  • Spreadsheets
  • And more

Step 3: Ask Questions

Once uploaded, your file is instantly processed. You can now ask questions that combine:

  • Information from the uploaded document
  • The MyPersona's existing knowledge base
  • Context from your current conversation

Step 4: Review Sources

Click on Sources beneath any answer to see exactly where the information came from:

  • Your uploaded document (shown as "Document sources")
  • The MyPersona's permanent knowledge base
  • Previous Q&A entries

Key Features

  • Cross-reference uploaded content with its knowledge base
  • Apply organizational policies to personal documents
  • Provide contextualized answers based on both sources

Privacy Protection

  • Session-Specific: Files exist only within the current conversation
  • No Permanent Storage: Documents are not saved to the knowledge base
  • Automatic Cleanup: Files are removed when the conversation ends
  • User Isolation: Other users cannot access your uploaded files

Privacy and Security

What Happens to Your Files

  1. During Conversation:

    • File is temporarily processed for the active session
    • Available only to you within that specific chat
    • Can be referenced multiple times in the same conversation
  2. After Conversation:

    • File is automatically deleted
    • No trace remains in the system
    • Cannot be accessed in new conversations
    • Not visible to other users or the MyPersona owner

Best Practices for Sensitive Documents

  • Do use this feature for personal or confidential documents
  • Do verify that you're in a private conversation before uploading
  • Do download any generated insights before ending the session
  • Don't expect the MyPersona to remember file contents in future conversations
  • Don't rely on this for permanent document storage

Important Limitations

Temporary Nature

  • Files are not permanently added to the knowledge base
  • Information is lost when you start a new conversation
  • The MyPersona cannot reference the file in future sessions

Access Restrictions

  • Only the person who uploaded the file can access it
  • MyPersona owners cannot see uploaded files
  • Files cannot be shared between conversations

Troubleshooting

File Not Processing

  • Check file format compatibility
  • Ensure file size is within limits
  • Try re-uploading if processing fails
  • Try creating a new chat

Information Not Found

  • Verify the file contains the expected content
  • Ask more specific questions
  • Check if information might be in the knowledge base instead

Privacy Concerns

  • Check your organization's data handling policies
