Using Public Websites as Knowledge Bases

MyPersonas can leverage any publicly available website as a knowledge source, enabling your digital clones to access and share information from across the internet. This powerful feature allows you to quickly expand your MyPersona's expertise by ingesting content from trusted websites, documentation sites, company pages, and more.

Overview

Website integrations (also called public integrations) serve two primary purposes in MyPersonas:

  1. Knowledge Base Enhancement: Ingest publicly available information to expand your MyPersona's knowledge
  2. Floating Action Button Deployment: Display the MyPersonas chat widget on your website (covered in a separate guide)

This guide focuses on using websites as knowledge sources for your MyPersonas.

When to Use Website Integrations

Website integrations are ideal when you need your MyPersona to:

  • Answer questions about products, services, or topics covered on specific websites
  • Stay updated with regularly changing information (e.g., product catalogs, event schedules)
  • Reference official documentation or public resources
  • Provide information from multiple web sources in a unified way

Creating a Website Integration

Step 1: Navigate to Integrations

From the MyPersonas dashboard, click on Integrations in the left sidebar menu.

Step 2: Create New Integration

Click either:

  • The "Create new integration" button on the empty card
  • The "New Integration" button in the top-right corner

Step 3: Configure the Integration

  1. Select Type: Choose "Website" from the dropdown menu
  2. Enter URL: Paste the complete URL of the website you want to ingest (e.g., https://olympics.com)
  3. Configure Options:
    • Display MyPersonas icon: Leave disabled for knowledge-only integrations
    • Start date: Enable only if you want to exclude content older than a specific date

Step 4: Select Pages to Ingest

After clicking Connect, MyPersonas will map the website structure. You can then:

  • Select the root checkbox to ingest all pages
  • Expand sections to choose specific pages or directories
  • Use hover options for bulk selection within groups
  • Add additional URLs manually if some pages weren't automatically discovered

Managing Your Integration

Monitoring Progress

After creation, your integration card will show:

  • Integration type (Website)
  • Ingestion progress or completion status
  • Options menu for management actions

Updating Content

To keep your knowledge base current:

  • Click the kebab menu (⋮) on the integration card
  • Select Refresh to pull the latest content
  • Enable Auto-refresh in settings for daily updates

Testing Your Integration

Once configured, test your MyPersona's new knowledge:
